So, I was out in a short jaunt in the Z late this afternoon to make sure the new gauges I set up were working properly ;)... I was driving down the freeway, enjoying my new monitoring devices when a 1970-ish Chevelle SS with a 454 pulls up on my right. It sounded very nice.. peaked my interest. I look over, and it's a middle-aged guy... he gives me a nod. I looked ahead.. no cars that I could see, maybe 1/3 mile.. and a few cars behind us by a couple 100 yards or so. I think "excellent". He slows down gradually, and I follow suit... to about 40mph. Perfect for a 2nd gear drop. I click the BC over to "HI" (17 psi)... he drops it down, as do I. We let 'em rip at the same time. He spun the tires for a second, and my Z starts building a fair amount of boost and losing a *bit* of traction. =). The Z was running great with this cold weather.. about 60*. I ahd forgotten what 17 psi felt like, as the last time I used it was when setting up the BC. Needless to say, I had him by 1/2 to 1 car-length by 60 mph, and another car-length by 80-ish, when we let off. (hey, I don't need a ticket, although the V1 was in full force). He rolled up again and yelled over to me asking if he could talk to me a for a bit. I agreed, and we pulled off the nearest exit. Just then, this riced out Integra, that had been following behind us the whole time buzzes up and ends up next to the guy in the SS at a light. The kids in the Integra yell over to him "Hey! What happened with you and that 'white car'?" I'm thinking.. "white car?".. I chuckled to myself about that. He responded with "it's a Twin Turbo, he kicked my ass". they left and he and I pulled over and chatted for a few minutes. He was a real nice guy, and it turns out his good friend has a TTZ, so he was asking about exhaust and whatnot. I reffered him to SpecialtyZ.com for Labree (of course), and what else but [ www.twinturbo.net ] =) Needless to say, I was quite suprised to hear that with his recent engine build, bored .20 over and few things here and there, he said it was making 425 HP, and over 450 ft.lbs. He had a lot of great stuff to say about the Z, and of course, you can't go wrong with some good 'ol American Muscle. I snapped a pic of his car as he was leaving. Well, enough with this long post, just thought I'd share. Flame away. .
